Polyolefin heat shrink tubing is a popular cross-linked protective tubing with good mechanical and physical properties. The tubing shrinks at temperatures as low as 90°C and can be applied using a simple heat gun, a small butane blowtorch, or a low-temperature radiant oven. The tubing has a good shelf life and will not deteriorate at normal temperatures. Cross-linked polyethylene heat shrink tubing is very flexible, allowing you to manipulate wires and harnesses after covering. The material has a maximum operating temperature of 135°C and remains flexible down to -55°C. Polyolefin is chemically inert and resists attack by acids, bases, fuels, and solvents.

With a large selection of premium heat shrink tubing products and accessories, Chengdu Focus Infra Materials company offers a broad range of versatile, durable and highly reliable heat shrink tubing solutions that effectively and efficiently meet the needs of a variety of commercial, industrial and residential cable and wiring applications.

Our polyolefin heat shrink tubing is extremely flexible, has a very low shrink temperature and is highly flame retardant. Our thin wall heat shrink tubing will provide insulation, identification, bundling, protection and repair in a variety of electrical, mechanical and commercial applications.

Polyolefin Heat Shrink Tubing Applications

Polyolefin heat shrink tubing is a flexible tube used for insulating wires, splices, connections, and electrical terminations. The material shrinks to form a tight, waterproof seal that is resistant to chemicals and solvents. You can use polyolefin heat shrink tubing in high-temperature industrial and automotive environments, as well as outdoors in cold conditions. Other applications include strain relief, mechanical support, and protecting delicate parts, circuit boards, and bundled wiring harnesses from abrasion and physical damage. Standard colors are black or white, while clear versions allow you to read wire, cable, and equipment identification markings.

Polyolefin Shrink Ratios

The standard shrink ratio for polyolefin tubing is 2:1. When heated, the tubing shrinks to half of its original (expanded) diameter. Other polyolefin shrink ratios include 3:1 and 4:1. When selecting heat shrink tubing, measure the diameter of the largest component the tubing must pass through to calculate the desired unshrinkable (expanded) diameter. Then measure the diameter of the smallest component you will be covering to get the desired final (recovered) diameter. Use these measurements to determine the shrink ratio for the tubing.
